This means that a reference has been made to that subject on page 1265, and that the same subject is mentioned again - and often amplified - on page 1272.
1265/1272 xxxxxxxx
This means that the subject is covered non-stop from page 1265 to page 1272. (This is used only when the subject is really very long; not for only a few pages.)
1265-------1272 xxxxxxxx
This means that the subject is mentioned from page 1265 to page 1272, but with also mentions, or references, to other subjects.
